How do I get cell phone service in the mountains if I have a basic verizon phone?

I am going skiing next weekend at snow shoe in west virginia. Every year I go I get know cell phone service and isolated from my friends. It isn’t that bad I just wish I could talk to them. Is there any tips on how to get better service I have a basic motorola phone with verizon.

verizon cell phone using existing service?

Ok so i have a verizon service plan and i recently lost my cell phone. this isnt the first time its happened either, so i finally decided im done with nice phones and i want to just buy a junky one and put my already existing plan into effect on that phone. what im wondering is…can i simly go to target and buy a pay-as-you-go cell phone for verizon and apply it to my existing service???
