How do I get a Microsoft Windows Vista sidebar?
I recently got a laptop with Vista Home Premium and I noticed that I don’t have a Windows Vista Sidebar even though it supposedly comes with it (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/sidebar-gadgets.aspx)? Could someone help me find out how to get it to show?
Thanks in advance! :]

Craig answers:
Just click start, and start typing Sidebar.
It could be that it was disabled from automatically showing up. Once it’s loaded right click the icon in the tray and have it start when windows starts.

George asks…
is there a hot key to bring the windows vista sidebar and gadgets to the front of the screen?

Craig answers:
Still trying to get to know this systems…only had it a couple of months. Never played with a computer much before either. But I believe there is a hidden area on the top right corner of the screen that will high light when the cursor finds it, from there you can open all of gadgtes and put them on your screen. Good luck, if all else fails, try looking in the adobe reader, there you should find a manual.

There are good ones on eBay, plus they’re cheap. But, if your the type who doesn’t like Online shopping, i think Best Buy still has them.

How long is the Garmin GPS power cable for vehicles that you buy separately? The standard is too short!?
I’ve looked on Best Buy and Garmin‘s website and they just say 12v power cord. I need too know how long. I need it about 5+ feet so I can place the GPS where I like it.

Craig answers:
Hi Nitrolee,
Just buy an extension cord. I got one at Walmart. You can see an example here – http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm/Outdoor-and-RV-Accessories/RV-Maintenance/RV-Electrical–Solar/6Foot-12Volt-Extension-Cord/skunum=26775

Sandy asks…
How can I send coordinates to my Garmin GPS?
Is there a website that sends coordinates (typed in by the user) to a Garmin GPS?
Thanks in advance!

Craig answers:
You can download them, via your USB cable, onto your Garmin straight from www.geocaching.com. If you’re not geocaching, then I don’t know. Maybe you need updated maps, and, yes, I’d check the Garmin site.

Susan asks…
How do you download stuff for your Garmin GPS system off your computer?
I want to download games and other extras onto my Garmin GPS system but sadly i don’t know how

Craig answers:
It depends on what unit you have. Feel free to call me at EdgeGPS 877-477-6281.

New Yorkers: What is the best cell phone service provider for Manhattan?
Cingular, t-mobile, sprint, ? which one gets the best service?

Craig answers:
I would say that Cingular provides the very best service in the NY metro area.
Now it used to be Verizon, but with Cingular and AT&T Wireless merging, their network capacity and number of cell sites have essentially doubled…so its very tough to find a ‘dead spot’ in the NY area on the Cingular network.

Paul asks…
Which cell phone service provider has the best upgrade policies?
I currenly have Verizon and I hate theirs. This new every 2 thing is weak. I’m 8 months out from my contract expiring and my phone breaks and they won’t let me resign for another 2 years to upgrade. So, I’m not going to resign in May, when my contracts up.

Craig answers:
They are suck. 2 years is standard.
Sprint is every two years– you get $150 every two years. If you want to renew your contract before then, they sometimes give you $75. They limit how often you get the $75 though.

Michael asks…
Which cell phone service provider has the best reception?
I’ve been thinking about trying MetroPCS but I heard you don’t get very good reception in many places. I’m also interested in T-Mobile. Anyone know anything about either of these providers?
I already have Cingular, but I don’t like it anymore and I want to get a sidekick3 from Tmobile. My second option, is of course MetroPCS.

Craig answers:
It all depends on where you will be using the phone. Each carrier has good spots and bad. If you are looking into T-Mobile. Check out their website, it has a Personal Coverage Check, where you type in an address and it will show you how many bars you should have there. Type in as many addresses as you want, it is free. Mainly you should have good coverage in locations you visit the most. Home, school, work, friends house, etc

Where can I buy T-Mobile cell phones without plans?
I need a new phone! Mine is broken but I don’t want to extend my plan any longer because I want a new service. Do you know where I can buy new T-Mobile cell phones without adding a plan?

Craig answers:
You have many options because T-Mobile is GSM and you can just put your SIM card in another phone.
You can buy a prepaid phone from Wal-Mart, Target, etc. These are cheap, low-end but good phones with no contract. And you can sell the prepaid SIM and activation kit on eBay for a little bit of money back.
You can buy a T-Mobile branded phone through the likes of eBay
You can buy an unlocked GSM phone. It NEEDS to have the 1900 band, and it SHOULD have the 850 band as well (T-Mobile doesn’t use it but some of their roaming partners do).
If you’re on a MyFaves plan it’s a little more restricted. Most phones do not have the MyFaves firmware. No unlocked and unbranded phone will. Most prepaid kits won’t (but some newer ones may have phones with the MyFaves firmware on them – and they won’t be marked to let you know). Be careful even when buying a phone listed on T-Mobile’s site as MyFaves – only the latest T-Mobile branded firmware versions have MyFaves. Even older T-Mobile branded ones (and many current prepay kits) won’t have the MyFaves firmware.
It’s a simple SIM card swap to get it working.
If you bought a phone unlocked and not setup for T-Mobile, then go to tmobileusotw.wdsglobal.com to send the phone the T-Mobile data settings for multimedia messages and T-Zones (WAP)
Good luck,
Mark

Thomas asks…
How would you go about finding out the time if clocks, watches and mobile/cell phones didn’t exist?
Would you be able to just look up at the sky and know?

Craig answers:
I think it would be quite difficult actually to get the precise time but If you lived on the coast I suppose you would probably have an idea with the ebb and flo of the tide.

Mandy asks…
Does anyone know about Virgin Mobile pre-paid cell phones?
I was looking around at the prices of pre-paid cell phones and saw that Virgin mobile cell phone where the cheapest price. I am only needing one for emergencies, so I don’t need a really expensive one. Anyways…I saw the prices for the minutes and I didn’t really understand it. the cheapest was $20.00, but it didn’t say how many minutes that was or their price per minute. Does anyone know approximately how many minutes are on one of the minutes card? Any of the cards for Virgin, just so I can kind of understand it.

Craig answers:
200 minutes for 20.00 dollars on there rollover plans 400 minutes for there 30.00 r/o plan and 1000 for 50

What features will the ipod touch 5g have?
and what year will it probably come out?

Craig answers:
The iPod lineup is generally revised every summer.

James asks…
What do you expect to be in the iPod Touch 5G?
I suspect that it would have the Apple A5 chip that the iPad 2 has, with Photo Booth as another biult-in app. I have also heard rumors that it will be in 3D (no glasses required) and it will be released on August 23, 2011. Is this true?

Craig answers:
A better camera and a dual core apple A5 chip.

Sandra asks…
When is the ipod touch 5g coming out?
Im wondering when the ipod touch 5g so i can buy one

Craig answers:
The iPod touch 5g will be unveiled and released around the beginning of September. Apple shows off their new line-up of iPods at their music event. So you’ll be able to buy it in early to mid September.

What cell phone is best suited to golf GPS software?
I’ve seen guys using the Apple iPhone as their dedicated GPS system on the course, but would like to hear from others before I rush out and spend $500+ on a cell phone!
I’m looking for help, not foolish answers from uninformed clowns. If you can’t help, don’t answer

Craig answers:
Iphone 3g i think they have application for that or the new blackberry

Laura asks…
Has anyone used the freecaddie golf gps software on the Samsung Omnia?
I am trying to select a course which i have transferred over to my phone, but i can’t open it with freecaddie. I have followed all instructions but nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Craig answers:
I have used the free-caddie before, but I was really not happy at all with it. I think the sync technology is still a couple of years off…phone technology is just not there yet.
After I played with it and was frustrated for a few weeks, I just went out and got a Yardage Pro Golf GPS. It was not too expensive and it works flawlessly. I found them online for $200.

Maria asks…
Whats the difference between a golf gps and a rangefinder?
And which would is better for the price and product

Craig answers:
A golf gps is a gadget that is about the size of a cell phone that shows (on the screen) where you are on the hole, a map of the hole, and the distance to the pin. More exotic ones include distances to bunkers, layup yardages, and many have a distance memory that helps with exact yardages that you hit each club. Rangefinders are less complex because you must aim and shoot a laser towards the target. The rangefinder is simple, takes getting used to, less convenient for most players, but more accurate.

How do I get cell phone service in the mountains if I have a basic verizon phone?
I am going skiing next weekend at snow shoe in west virginia. Every year I go I get know cell phone service and isolated from my friends. It isn’t that bad I just wish I could talk to them. Is there any tips on how to get better service I have a basic motorola phone with verizon.

Craig answers:
*228+send from your cell phone will only be helpful if the ph has 2 bars of signal to start. If it does then choose option #2, if it doesn’t then there’s not really anything else that can be done while you are skiing.

How does AT&T, and other GSM cell phone companies get away with having phones that interfere with electronics?
I just recently switched from Sprint to AT&T and am starting to get awfully annoyed with the interference caused by their phones.
I know the FCC specifically prohibits these devices from interfering with other devices, yet my phone interferes with my speakers, televisions and other devices.
It even interferes with Playstation controllers causing them to go haywire.
Anyone know how they are getting away with this?

Craig answers:
It is not a matter of getting away with it. Can you emagine how may eletronic signals are out there in the air. They can get criss crossed for many reasons. Bad weather, other devices, and so on. That’s why on an airplane of at the hospital, they ask you to turn your cell or computer off. It happens.

Ruth asks…
Are cell phones the same quality if purchased at Walmart?
I have been wanting to switch cell phone services to Verizon Wireless, and get a new phone. I noticed that on walmart.com, the phones are really cheap. I was just wondering if anyone here has purchased a phone from Walmart, and if so, is it the same quality phone as you would buy at a Verizon store? I don’t want to be buying a cheaply made phone.

Craig answers:
Yes. Walmart doesn’t sell knock offs of popular products. What you buy is the real deal.
