Survey : World Peace or life time supply of latest Gadgets?

Which one would you pick and why?

Craig answers:

World peace would be nice but it’s an unattainable goal, so most be people try to make their own little worlds peaceful with little gadgets , cars ,houses , money …..

I would still prefer World peace over a lifetime supply of gadgets. The why is because i have children and hope for a better life for them !!!!!!!!!

Psp GPS downloadable software…………?

Can i download (for free) some type of Gps software or some type of map that I can import onto my psp to have gps?
ive seen online where people downloaded a program called “map this” for free and transfered onto their psp and it worked….

Craig answers:

No, you need homebrew firmware to use mapping software and you can use GPS but you have to buy the GPS adaptor. The PSP has got it’s own version of google maps that someone has made however you will require an internet connection. Sorry no idea where to get it from.

Laura asks…

Where Can You Download Freeware Maps?

Where can I find free downloadable mapping software online? One with driving directions and road maps in particular. I don’t mean google earth or mapquest something that is downloadable and doesn’t require internet, meant for the PC. I don’t mean cellphone or GPS or pocket pc maps, I mean for a desktop or laptop. Basically a free program with preloaded road maps of the United States.

Craig answers:

This app doesn’t exist.

Maps are dynamic, and therefore, NEED the web to be accurate.

Have you tried Google Maps, from:

Plan your driving routes and then print them out. The printouts are as close as you’ll get to what you want.

John asks…

Is there any cell phone which has “free” GPS (or can be hacked for it)?

I don’t want to purchase a data plan – just a bare bones plan, however i don’t mind spending a little extra on the phone itself. I also don’t mind doing a little work to download software to put on the phone. Ideally I’d be able to look at road maps, but even some simple program that would tell me my latitude and longitude coordinates would be useful. In summary, I’d like to know the name of the phone, and then what steps I need to take to get free GPS on it. Thanks!

Craig answers:

Um, GPS is a free service, it has been since 1983. What you need to find are phones that have built in GPS, or even support for GPS devices through usb or bluetooth.

Most, if not all, windows mobile devices have GPS support. There are also some Nokia phones I know that have GPS support, namely the N95.

The software is the part that costs money though. For Windows mobile there are a lot of free programs that can tell you latitude and longitude, but the ones like Tom Tom cost money.

I’d say for what you want though, the N95 would be your best option. I believe it comes with the software, as well as the built in GPS.

At Nate: GPS does not need any data to be sent or received. A phone that has no internet support at all, but has GPS, would work.

Anybody know of a good and cheap cell phone repair service?

I have a samsungA737 and the charger broke. So a friend of mine who was apparently good with electronics said he could fix it. After his “repair” it was plugged into the phone then the wall which caused small sparks to come from the charger..now it doesn’t turn on. I tried a new battery but that didn’t work. So back to my actual question.. ideas on any cell repair places with reasonable prices?

Craig answers:

Sounds like he Fed up the fuse in the plug and your phone was introduced to too high a voltage. You can try buying a new battery and see if that solves it

The bet wy to find a place to fix phones is in the phone book or by calling your service provider. There are stores all over the place that fix phones but they are usually very small places so you dont tend to notice them. Have a look in the phone book and you should find one near you. Prices will vary so make sure you ring a few places to compare.

Good luck!

Power surges wont be covered by manufactures warranted because its not a manufacturing fault. You may aswell expect “I dropped it in a puddle” to be covered! The only thing that would cover power surges (or puddle drops) is insurance.

Cheapest Cell phone service for a college student?

Hey guys, i’m a freshman in college (Macomb Community College in MI woo! lol) and i’m looking to get my own cell phone because me and my grandma had a falling out. I’m looking for the cheapest service with the most features (and a decent phone). Can you offer some suggestions and reasons WHY? Please don’t just say “Cingular” or something.

Craig answers:

Well I shopped around and found that Tmobile is by far the cheapest, because most phone companies require a security deposit ranging from 150-$400! And tmobile does not require a secuirty deposit. My bill every month is $72 which includes the fave 5 service, 300 whenever mins, free nights/weekends, and unlimited texting. And my phone is reeeeally cute, it was only $50 itself its a Nokia ExpressMusic, you can look it up on their site. Uhm I think thats pretty much it =]

Good luck

Has anyone tried the cell spy gadgets? Do they really work?

I think my spouse is cheating and I just want my mind at ease. I don’t want to leave not knowing for sure first. My spouse works 7 days a week, doesn’t touch me at all in bed, ignores me and the kids. What should I do? We hardly spend time together. Please give me some advice, please be honest and nice? Thank you in advance.

Craig answers:

He probably is from what you say but there is a remote chance that if he really is working 7 days a week he is too tired to do anything but work including touching you, or more, in bed. The problem with the spy gadgets is that they would do no good if you don’t have them in the right places. You can go to a spy store and perhaps get something to trace where his car goes and that may give you a clue or drive by where he works and see if his car is there or not. You might even see how far it is to where he works, drive that yourself and watch the odometer, and then check the odometer to see if he has driven any further than that.

How To Make Spy Gear & Gadgets?

Hi. I want to spy on my family and friends, but I need spy gear and gadgets. I want to make it at home with normal stuff, so can you help me? Tell me what to make and how, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Craig answers:

Have you no imagination?

Go watch some spy movies, and then come back when you have a more clear idea of what it is that you want to do.

Also, maybe you could refine your definition of “normal stuff.” What is normal stuff? Suppose I told you that you’d have to learn to use a soldering iron and that you’d have to learn how to use prototyping boards (available at Radio Shack). Is that normal stuff? Or do you want to make everything out of cleaning products that you find under your kichen sink and picture hanger wire and nails and “stuff” from your kitchen junk drawer?

Sandra asks…

Does anyone have any info on how to make homemade spy gadgets that their willing to share?

I would greatly apreciate the help very much. Thank you.

Craig answers:

You could always try instructables.com, its brilliant, loadz of stuff on there, not necessarily spy stuff, but depending on what you want to make, theres loadz of sources: e.g

Cheap wireless cameras: ebay

cheap bugs + surveillance equip.: if youre in the uk, quasar electronics is brilliant, not sure if it works now tho : www.quasarelectronics.com

enjoy!

ACTUALLy quasar electronics does work, and i think they do international delivery, not sure, and alot of the bugs and stuff are really cheap

How will I know that a new iPod Classic is compatible with one of my old iPod rechargers?

I’m planning to get an iPod Classic, and the only thing I was curious about was that I wanted to make sure that some of the older iPod accessories could be plugged into the new iPod. Such examples are iHome, iHome 2.0, etc. Can anyone help? Thanks, your answers are always a great help!

Craig answers:

Hello Britcop Jim,

I have no idea, but it might help if you brought your iPod rechargers with you to the store and ask the store clerk if you can try them with their display iPods. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.

Do all TomTom GPS units have the option to alert you when you are going over the speed limit?

I borrowed a friends TomTom and loved that it could alert me when I was going above the speed limit. Now I am ready to buy my own and have decided on either the TomTom® XL 335SE GPS or the TomTom® Ease GPS, but I want to be sure that they have this feature.

Craig answers:

No some of them and some of them dont. It stinks when buying a gps because they will add a small feature and up the price and make and boost it is different. Tom tom, garming, magellan, etc all make gps models that serve specific features, so be careful with which one you buy. If you need one for truck driving then buy a trucking one. If you need one for car driving then buy one for car driving. If you need one for hiking then make sure you get the one that says hiking on the box.
I bought an all around gps from newelectronx. It does trucking, car driving and hiking, all in one gps.
Gives voice commands like street names, freeway name, freeway exits, speeding alerts, and even tells which side of the street your destination is on. Good luck and happy gps shopping.

Lisa asks…

I am planing to buy Garming or TomTom GPS and looking for if they are updatable?

I am planing to buy GARMIN or TomTom GPS and looking for if they are up-datable in future whenever I need.I noticed none of website that has advertisement or even in news paper ad.says it was up datable. How do I find if GPS is up-datable or not?
Hi Tanya, your answer is good but since I don’t know what model number of tom tom I couldn’t say.

Craig answers:

I know that Tom Toms are. My sister has one and she updates the maps on it and can download other voices and stuff. IDK about Garmin though, maybe go to an electronics store and ask a salesperson.

Helen asks…

could i use my tomtom gps device while riding my bicycle?

could i use my tomtom gps device while riding my bicycle? would the device work properly?

Craig answers:

I’ve had a Garmin 205 and two Garmin 305s. They are gps units for bikes. All failed within months. The electronics in these were built for bikes and they still weren’t able to take the vibration and shock indefinitely. I gave up on them.

I’m willing to bet your Tom-Tom wouldn’t stand a chance on a bike without some serious shock mounting.

What Is The Best Prepaid Cell Phone Service?

I’m getting rid of my sprint service after 2 years… It’s like $90/month and I only am using 200minutes/month with maybe 100 text messages… I think it would be WAY cheaper for a service like Virgin pay-as-you-go. Can I use my phone I used with Sprint or do I need to buy a new one?

Craig answers:

Virgin Mobile by all means.!! I have tried a few, and Virgin has a great deal. 18 cents a minute, (with the ‘Minute to Minute’ plan) No contracts. PLUS, your top up card lasts 90 days, most other pre-paid phones are 60 days. There are also daily charges on most pre-paid services. Not Virgin. Mine works just about everywhere in the Country. I love it. Voicemail, call waiting, celebrity answering messages, etc. (You can also buy one year of service if you wish.)

Questions about the blackberry pearl and other verizon cell phones?

I was looking to purchase the verizon blackberry pearl, but I don’t think i will be using the internet or email or a lot of the extra things, I just like the appearance of the phone, so is it worth it? Also, if not, what are some other good verizon phones. I currently have the verizon alias and i HATE it, i have had like 5 and the all break. Thanks for any help!

Craig answers:

I don’t think the blackberry pearl is worth it. It’s a nice phone, but you wouldn’t be using the main part of the phone. A really nice verizon phone is the EnvTouch. It’s ahhmazing! The touch screen works really well, it has a full qwerty keyboard, and you can have tons of apps.
